About Me
I graduated with honors from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a B.S. in English/Spanish secondary education and a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction Reading. I began teaching in 1973 and have taught PK- adults English/Language Arts, Spanish, Remedial Reading, Physical Education, and ESL/LEP in Louisiana, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. I was the CMS Middle School Literacy Coordinator for the 31 middle schools; however, the 2009 budget cuts motivated my return to Louisiana as a Master Teacher, where I worked with the School Improvement Plan to rebuild struggling schools after Hurricane Katrina. Fortunately, I returned to CMS as a "free agent," which enabled me to join the BMS staff in 2010.
I am thrilled to be a part of the educational team at Bailey Middle School and look forward to working with your student in Honors and Standard Plus Language Arts. I am a member of the Panthers Team with other professional and compassionate teachers.
I am the proud parent of three wonderful sons: Trevor, 39, anesthesiologist in Lafayette, Louisiana, his wife Missy, and my granddaughter Anna James; Travis, 39, IT Architect in Atlanta, Georgia (Yes, they are twins!), his wife Sara, and my three-year-old grandson Taylor Lee; Jordan, 37, Videography Consultant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his wife Erin, and my expected grandson Mason James in early August, 2020. Lots going on with The Family!
My mother Anna, who retired after teaching 56 years at L.S.U. and S.L.U. in speech and theater, lived with me until her death in 2013. She was my hero and best friend, and I pray I continue her legacy, the love of learning and teaching, even though I'm only in my 46th year. I currently reside in Mooresville with Shitz Zhu Doc and rescue cat Jazzy. In my leisure time I enjoy dancing (DWTS a yearly favorite), working out at Planet Fitness, participating in my church ministries, cycling, horseback riding, and watching SEC college football. "Geaux Tigers!" My life is forever on "fast forward," I am on the move especially with grandchildren, and I love it!
